Coarse Fishing Tackle Review: The JW Young 13ft Trotter Rod - DIME ...

Coarse anglers like me are not the same as other fishers. Rather than pursuing premier classes of fish such as trout and salmon, I am in favour of pursuing many different kinds of fish, and wondering what's going to show up at the end of my line.

Coarse fishermen like me are a breed apart. I don't particularly fish for premier such as salmon or trout; instead, I like hunting a large diversity of fish and being surprised at what happens to bite at the end of my fishing line. In light of this, my coarse fishing tackle has got to be as resourceful as is possible. Bream, tench, chub, pike and many others all are fair game, provided I can outsmart them! So that I can be successful, I pick my fishing venues and also my gear with meticulousness. You probably won't be able to use the same kind of fishing tackle for different species of fish. When you're stalking the wily pike, tackle designed for a lesser fish just won't do! These are some facts concerning a rod I truly favour: the JW Young 13ft trotter rod.

Coarse Fishing Tackle: Key Features of the JW Young 13ft Trotter Rod

Of all the different coarse fish, I would rather hunt pike. Pike are cunning, forceful fish that are powerful fighters when you hook them. This JW Young rod is an excellent all around float rod. I have noticed that its tip action is crisp and reactive, a nice component to have. The fact that it is 13ft is suitable for me, and I normally use 2 to 4lb test strength line for my rod. This specific JW Young version has got a compacted 3-section frame made from an exceptionally narrow, extra high modulus blank. This particular fishing rod is ringed for both fixed spool and centrepin type reels. One aspect which I am thankful for is the sensitivity in the top part of the rod, which in addition to keeping the hooks from coming loose, also provides lots of strength and control to the bottom sections of the rod.

Even another quality I am partial to is that the blank is extra-thin. This renders the rod exceptionally comfortable to hang on to when fishing excursions are lengthy, an important issue if I am stick float fishing. This specific JW Young rod is a superb item of coarse fishing tackle, and is designed with a top quality screw up reel fitting that guarantees that this reel will not move out of place. This reel fitting has perfect performance, and I haven't noticed any slippage or difficulty when screwing up or down. This reel is very secure when it is fixed to the rod.

Coarse Fishing Tackle: Final Thoughts on the JW Young 13ft Trotter Rod

JW Young rods are known for their superior quality, and this one is no exception. It comes with a hinged hook retainer that's optimally located just above the handle, a feature that's quite useful when you're moving about. Furthermore, it is a hinged retainer, making it conveniently foldable for out-of-the-way storage. This lessens the possibility of this retainer snagging on the reel line during casting, another commendable aspect.

All things considered, this is a strongly designed, extremely serviceable piece of coarse fishing tackle that I'm happy to own, and pleased to recommend.

I've been fishing since i was 9 years old and nothing soothes me more. To get the best offers on coarse fishing tackle in the UK i happily advise KeensTackleandguns. Since I am an avid fly fisherman, I'm quite fascinated with how fly fishing tackle changes. As of late, I've learned about an ideal reel produced by Hardy, the Zane Ti. In case you are a coarse fisherman, then you know the struggle of tracking different fish species. Because of the fact that you're a coarse fisherman, you'll usually need to adapt very quickly to a variety of fishing spots, baits and strategies.
