Heart Cancer?

cfpops
From wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_cancer:
? Heart cancer is a extremely rare form of cancer of the heart. Heart cancer is divided into primary tumors of the heart and secondary tumors of the heart. Most heart cancers are benign myxomas, fibromas, rhabdomyomas and hamartomas, although malignant sarcomas (such as angiosarcoma or cardiac sarcoma) have been known to occur. In a study of 12,487 autopsies performed in Hong Kong seven cardiac tumors were found, most of which were benign. However, cancer can also spread to heart from other parts of the body. In addition the heart can be affected by treatment for cancer in other parts of the body.?

Please see the webpages for more details on Heart tumor (Myxoma).
A myxoma (Myxo- = Latin for mucus) is the most common primary tumor of the heart. Myxomas are usually located in either the left or right atrium of the heart; about 86 percent occur in the left atrium.
A rhabdomyoma is a benign tumor of muscle. Cardiac rhabdomyomas most frequently occurs in infants and young children and have an association with tuberous sclerosis.
It is most commonly associated with the tongue and heart, but can also occur in other locations. The malignant form of rhabdomyoma is called Rhabdomyosarcoma.

Rare heart cancer exists.

No tumours of the specialized heart muscle have been reported. A tumor known as a myxoma does involve the heart rarely.

Heart cancer is rare, but I know that it occurs because people in the Sarcoma group where I go have Angiosarcoma. It is a rare disease so not many people have heard about it (also referred to as Cardiac Sarcoma or Angiosarcoma of the Heart).

Angiosarcoma of the Heart

With heart angiosarcoma the ?patients can be asymptomatic for a long time or they can present with symptoms mimicking acute pericarditis, pulmonary embolism, or tricuspid stenosis.?

?Angiosarcomas represent 1% of all sarcomas. One-third of the cases occur on the skin, one-fourth of the cases occur in the soft tissue or organs such as breast, liver, heart and lungs.? ? Sarcoma Alliance. http://www.sarcomaalliance.com/

Other rare types of malignant heart tumor includes pericardial mesothelioma and a primary heart lymphoma (which can occur in people with AIDS). Secondary cancers (originate elsewhere in the body) can also metatasize to the heart including lung and breast carcinoma, soft-tissue sarcoma, renal cancer, malignant melanoma, leukemia, lymphoma, and sometimes Kaposi?s Sarcoma.

Myxoma is a rare benign (not cancerous) tumor.

I have heard of Cancer of almost every organ in the body?except for the Heart. Is this because it is a muscle? But isn?t there Cancer of the muscles? Just a curiousity if anyone in the medical field can answer this please.
