By now everyone has heard of article marketing and so many people out define it in so many different ways there that it has become hard for people new to article marketing to understand.

First of all, most of the SEO Gurus caught on to article marketing late in the game, then scrambled to create their own definitions of it at the last minute so it didn?t appear they were ever not aware of the power of article marketing.

In general, article marketing is where you write an article on a topic that is related to your website topic. Not a promotional article for your website, but an article about something that is informative to the reader. In the article you use keywords and phrases that relate to your topic as well, much like you would optimize a webpage. Your article when reprinted will be the text of a webpage or webpages.

In the author bio section at the bottom is some info about you and links to your website. It is suggested that you put in one link to your main page and one to an interior page that fits the article you are writing.

If your article is submitted to websites that take article submissions and offers free content to webmasters, then webmasters choose to repost your article on their websites, the links in the author bio section become links from their websites to your website.

Now lets go on to the myths and facts about article marketing.

MYTH: Article marketing doesn?t really help you all that much.

FACT: Article Marketing can help you increase your link popularity and be a source of some of the most targeted traffic you can get.

MYTH: Reprinted Articles only get indexed as supplemental pages, therefore it doesn?t help enough to make it worthwhile.

FACT: Depending on where the article gets submitted to, the article itself can get a top 10 listing in major search engines and not as a supplemental page.

MYTH: Submitting your article everywhere creates duplicate content and the search engines will punish or discount those pages as a result.

FACT: If search engines punished duplicate content in the way that myth suggests then all rss feeds that cause a post in a blog to be reproduced to be discounted or published and they are not. The New York Times articles and CNN stuff is blasted all over the web and are not punished or discounted.

Duplicate content is two webpages that are around 70% similar, not two webpages that have similar text on them.

MYTH: The only way article marketing works is you write an article then submit it to thousands of article submission websites.

FACT: There is more than one way to make article marketing work for you. The way mentioned above works okay if you are looking to get a lot of links back to your website whether they are related or not and can be effective if you currently have very little or no link popularity at all.

Another way is to hand submit your article to article submission websites that only accept articles related to your topic. This is more difficult but the links help you more just through the submissions and it?s more likely that the websites that pick up and repost your article will be also related to your topic which can help you with better links and targeted traffic.

Yet another way is to write a very high quality article that you really take your time on and research. You then choose a very high traffic website related to your topic. One that has great PR and a lot of visitors.

Email them your article and offer them an exclusive if they will print your article with your links included in the bio. If your article is of good quality and they get an exclusive you have a good chance they will post your article there.

This one posting of your article can be more powerful than the mass submitted article method if you choose the website you submit it to carefully.

Last but not least, posting your article exclusively on your own website is a great way to add fresh content and if the article is good, people will link directly to the article increasing both traffic and PR for your webpage where you posted the article. But for this to work you need to already have some traffic to work with.

MYTH: You should always post your article in your website first, then wait to get crawled by the search engines before submitting the article elsewhere.

FACT: Adding articles to your own website is called adding content. Submitting those articles to other websites is called article marketing. With article marketing you don?t want the article indexed on your website first.

Yes you read that right. You do not want the article indexed on your website first. You are or should already be doing SEO on your website and adding fresh content to your website for the search engines to get traffic from them.

Submitting articles to other websites and having the search engines find it there first gives another gateway that people can find your website through.

If the websites that you submitted your articles to get crawled often, then having your article appear there with the links intact will get your website crawled as well.

If the websites you submitted your article to are getting indexed well by the search engines, then your article being found on their website first might get it in the top 10 results.

Placing it into your own website with no or low PR might not have gotten the article indexed at all.

I love writing an ebook about a topic I?m passionate about. What is amazing to me is how, when you speak with your true voice, people listen. There are lots of good reasons for writing an ebook; however, the best reason is because you must write. Because the message is important to you.

So, here are tips for reaching further with your passion to broaden your audience.

1. Select a Topic You are ?Known? For

It made sense for me to write 30 Days to Make and Market a Fabulous Ebook because I was already writing and speaking on the topic, and people knew I had written successful ebooks in the past. It would not make sense for me to publish an ebook about home organization, given the state of my office desk.

When you are known for a particular subject, it?s usually because that is something you bring up often in conversation or in your blog. People will not be surprised to see you offering an ebook on the topic.

2. Focus the Topic to a Good, Specific Point-of-View

When you are passionate about a subject, the tendency can be to try to cram everything you know about the topic into a single ebook. Instead of trying to publish the ebook equivalent of ?The Joy of Cooking? you are more likely to have success with an ebook series about food-related topics. So specific titles might include ?Thirty Dinners You can Make for $10 or Less? and ?How to Prepare Dinners for Your Freezer? instead.

3. Don?t Let Fear Stop You From Putting an Ebook Out There

Sometimes, when we think about writing an ebook, we stop ourselves with a myriad of excuses. I would encourage you to take the plunge and just do it! Not every ebook will be a best-seller, of course, but each book that you write will teach you something new and add to your overall platform. This is so important when it?s a topic you talk about a lot.

4. Put Together a High-Quality Work

When you?re writing because you care, you want to put the highest quality work out there. Consider things like a high-quality ebook cover, having your work edited, and paying attention to formatting niceties like readable fonts, appropriate images or screenshots, white space or bullet points when necessary to draw the reader in, and other touches that will make for a more polished and presentable book.

5. Enlist the Help of Others who Share Your Passion

Set up an affiliate program for your ebook so that others who are interested in the topic will be able to promote the book on your behalf. Once you?ve excited people with what you?ve shared, you want to have a way to empower them to spread the message, and an affiliate program is a fabulous way to do so.

Senator Barrasso Wants to Give Ski Areas a Lift - KOWB 1290

Ski areas located on Forest Service land would be able to allow summertime activities, such as mountain biking and concerts if a bill moved forward by the Senate Energy Committee on Thursday becomes law. The Ski Area Recreation Opportunity Enhancement Act of 2011 was introduced by U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) along with senators from Colorado and Utah to change permitting rules and hopefully increase tourism.

The current 1986 law only allows ski-related activities in Forest Service ski areas. Barrasso says this bill would amend the law so that recreational sports outside of just alpine and Nordic skiing, such as snowboarding,?are allowed. It would also mean the Forest Service could authorize year-round activities to help level out ski areas? seasonal economies.

Today, bipartisan members of the Energy Committee voted to boost local economies by increasing recreational opportunities. By giving ski areas year round business and recreational opportunities, our bill will create jobs and increase tourism in Wyoming and across the nation.

'Jersey Shore' star OK'd for pretrial intervention (AP)

TOMS RIVER, N.J. ? "Jersey Shore" cast member Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has been admitted into a pretrial intervention program that will allow him to avoid a criminal record for an assault that was shown on the first season of the MTV reality series.

The 25-year-old New York City resident appeared Monday in New Jersey Superior Court in Toms River.

Judge Stephanie Wauters told Ortiz-Magro that he'd be in the program for 18 months and asked if he'd be willing to do community service during that time. The Asbury Park Press reports that he said he would, though the judge did not specify what or how much.

Ortiz-Magro was charged after a September 2009 fight outside a Seaside Heights nightclub.

He and other cast members recently returned to Seaside Heights to film the show's fifth season.

Official Steve Jobs Bio Gets a New Title (PC Magazine)

The first Steve Jobs biography with the Apple CEO's approval is set to hit stores next spring, but author Walter Isaacson recently opted to give the book a different title.

It was originally called "iSteve: The Book of Jobs," a title selected by the publicity department of Simon and Schuster, the book's publisher. According to Forbes, Isaacson wasn't convinced the pun-filled title was quite right, and his wife and daughter deemed it "too cutesy."

So Isaacson was able to convince Simon and Schuster to rename the bio. Just like Jobs' signature black turtleneck, the new title is no-frills. The book will simply be called "Steve Jobs."

It doesn't hit stores until March 6, 2012, but it's already been available for pre-order on Amazon for a month, selling at about half the list price. It's $16.50 for the hardback version (regularly $30) and $14.99 for the Kindle e-book version. There's no word on how much it will cost on Apple's iBooks platform. The 448-page biography is already an Amazon bestseller, climbing as high as number 13 on the overall list and number one in the business biographies and technology books category.

Isaacson, a former CNN chairman and former managing editor of Time spent three years conducting "exclusive and unprecedented" interviews with the notoriously private Apple chief. He also landed interviews with Jobs' family, friends, colleagues, and competitors. The book is described as the "definitive portrait of the greatest innovator of his generation."

Isaacson is a seasoned biographer who has previously profiled such figures as Henry Kissinger, Benjamin Franklin, and Albert Einstein.

Britain?s Piggy French Leads in London

Great Britain?s Piggy French and DHI Topper W hold the lead after today?s dressage phase of the Greenwich Park Eventing Invitational (CIC**) in London.? From a starting field of 39 runners, the 30-year-old Briton, who took individual silver at the 2009 FEI European Eventing Championships, produced a great score of 34.70 which leaves her with a six-point advantage over Australia?s Clayton Fredericks (Bendigo) in second place, while Germany?s world champion Michael Jung (River of Joy) lies third going into tomorrow?s cross-country phase which begins at 11 am local time.

Greenwich Park is alive with excitement, and the arena, built on a specially-designed platform in order to provide a level surface on this hilly site, has come in for significant praise. ?Greenwich is such a unique location and there?s a huge buzz about it - it seems a very horse-friendly place!? French said this evening.?? Fredericks was delighted with how well his horse handled the atmosphere, especially since Bendigo may be his mount for London 2012.? ?I deliberately brought him here with next year in mind? he explained? ?And this is a great opportunity to get all of our officials together and to do some team-building - we Australians don?t often get an opportunity to do that? he pointed out.

Jung, individual gold medallist at last year?s Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games?, is intrigued by the Cross Country terrain.? ?It?s very interesting, a big part of the course goes up and down and there are many jumps but only five minutes to ride them.? We will need to quickly find a rhythm - it?s great to get the chance to compete here before next year? he said.

A huge amount of work has been invested in ensuring the footing on the Cross Country is good.? ?I hacked on the outside of the track today and the difference between the course and the public side is quite significant? explained French, while Fredericks said, ?the area where the action is happening is very good.? I met some of the groundsmen when I was walking the course today and they are taking great pride in providing us with good sport?.

Just getting the horses into the heart of London might have seemed an onerous task, but thanks to the professionalism of LOCOG?s official horse transport provider, Peden Bloodstock, it has worked seamlessly.? Lorries from all over the United Kingdom and Europe arrived at a staging post four miles away, the horses and equipment were unloaded and the equipment transferred onto a commercial vehicle, security tests were conducted on the vehicles and then the horses were re-loaded and arrived quickly at the stabling area.? Peden?s Managing Director, Martin Atock, said ?it worked very well, but to be honest getting the horses here has been no different to getting them to any other event?, he said.

Cross-Country course designer, Sue Benson, is in upbeat mood. ?I?ve had a lot of favourable comments from the riders, but I must emphasise that I have a great team behind me, London Eventing.? They inspire me and I believe I inspire them!? she said. The London weather is warm - it was 25 degrees centigrade at lunchtime today - but Benson is pleased because that will provide another test. ?It may be hot here next year and we will learn everything we can from our experiences this time around?, she said.

Asked about the greatest challenge she has faced during her preparations she said ?obviously there have been the sensitivities about the Park itself but in terms of the sport the hills have been my major concern - however I can?t do anything about them, they are there and that is it, so it?s been about finding the best ground to use.????

Meanwhile local business is already enjoying an early Olympic boost.? Paul Cunningham, owner of the Biscuit Ceramic Cafe on Nelson Road in Greenwich which is just a few short steps from the Park?s Queen Mary?s Gate, said today - ?I acknowledge the inconvenience caused to some people by having this Olympic equestrian event in the Park - I live on the other side of the Park and I couldn?t cycle through it today because of the Test Event.? But the inconvenience is nothing compared to the benefits for our businesses and for tourism.? We are used to welcoming people here to Greenwich - it is the second most-visited site in London -? and we know that the warmer the welcome the more likely it is that visitors will return, or tell their friends that this is a great place to come.? The Olympic Games in Greenwich is a really positive thing?, he said.

FACTS AND FIGURES
What is being Tested: Riders will use this event to understand the logistics and get to know the Park.? LOCOG is testing the field of play, the stabling and warm up areas and how they relate to each other, managing the arrivals and departures processes, and the arrangements for athletes, trainers, grooms, accommodation, venue staff, technology and transport.

Arena: The arena in use for this week?s event is approximately three-quarters the size of the one that will be in use in 2012.? It is 85 metres by 75 metres while for next year?s event it will be 100m by 80m.? The arena floor or ?decking? is a plywood platform supported by a steel and aluminium frame. Not only is this quick to install, lightweight and reusable it can also be installed without any digging taking place. That is because the adjustable ?legs? for the platform can be placed directly onto the ground, although some sand may be used to ensure the decking is level. Because of the ecological and archaeological sensitivities of the Park, the usual cut and fill process, which is often used when building for equestrian events, will not be used.

Spectator Numbers: There are 2,000 tickets for the arena for each day of the Test Event for the Dressage/Jumping and an additional 5,000 for tomorrow?s Cross Country.? Over 3,500 tickets have been donated to Greenwich council for distribution to residents, schools and colleges.

Cross-Country Course: The length of the Cross Country for the test event is approximately 3,000 metres, roughly half the length of the Olympic course which will be 5,700 to 6,000 metres and approximately a 10-minute track.? Much of the Olympic course on the east side of the Park will be used for the test event which equates to about 40-45% of the Olympic course.? The test event is a two star event so the fences are smaller and less testing.? The Olympic event is a four star event.? The Cross Country phase of next year?s Olympic event was one of the first sports to sell out when tickets went on sale.

Mark Todd (NZL) on his test on NZB CAMPINO: ?I was a little disappointed. The horse normally does a good test but he dropped behind the bit and leg and I couldn?t do anything with him. But he only started eventing last year.?

On the Cross-Country course ?I hesitate to say that it looks straightforward, but it looks a nice course. The terrain will be the interesting bit. The course will be tight, but it was like that in Hong Kong (for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008) so it will be fine and a good test.?

On the Greenwich Park venue in general: ?It looks great. It?s a novelty for us to be in a big city. Normally the Olympic eventing is way out on a limb.?

Karin Donkers (BEL) on her test on Lamicell Unique: ?It?s a challenging environment for a seven-year-old, so I am happy with her behaviour. She coped well, as it was quite crowded around the arena and there were lots of clicking cameras. It feels like a championship already. The arena feels very nice to ride on. The Cross Country is a nice two-star test. The hills will tell us a little bit about how it will ride next year.?

On bringing a young horse to the event: ?I think it is good to ride this test event with a young horse. A three or four-star horse is more experienced and can give it a different feel.?

Renan Guerreiro (BRA) on his test on the 19-year-old Rongotai , the oldest horse at the event: ?He was really good. I need to do some work on my flying changes, but it is one of the best dressage tests I?ve done.? They have done a really good job on the arena, it?s a great surface.?

Michael Jung (GER) on his test: ?River of Joy does a good test normally, but a score of 41 is not so good, a bit disappointing.?

On the footing in the arena, which has been constructed for the first time on a custom-designed platform: ?It is interesting ground. It feels soft and horse-friendly.?

Jules Stiller (USA) on the Greenwich Park venue: ?I was quite sceptical, but they have done a great job on it. It?s amazing to ride Cross Country and look down on the city.?

William?Fox-Pitt?(GBR) on Greenwich Park and the custom-designed platform installed as the field of play:? ?Wow, it has an Olympic feel already and this is just a test event. The surface is lovely; with a bounce in it, it?s so much kinder and more forgiving on the horses.?

Jayne Doherty (IRL):? ?It was amazing to see all the flags at the stables, and the atmosphere is incredible ? I think we all under-estimated how amazing it was going to be. Just arriving in the horse box and driving through the centre of London was amazing. The course looks beautiful ? really well manicured.?
