RALEIGH--Hundreds of women are lacing up their running shoes for the 19th annual Women's Distance Festival 5k race.
The race helps raise money to help women escape domestic violence and abusive relationships.
September is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Saturday's race is all about helping women get the services and protection they need.
Part of the proceeds go directly to Interact of Wake County, which helps domestic violence victims through crisis centers, counseling services and residential housing.
