I am running a alu se 2-2-2-4 cable to feed a sub panel. Can i run this cable in plastic conduit? If so, do i need a larger size for heat dissapation? It will be in about 110' of pipe. |

1-1/4 schedule 40 and schedule 80 where it could get hit by anything above ground. Don't think the SE is rated for conduit or below ground use though. Last edited by rrolleston; Today at 01:20 PM. |

That is not rated for wet locations, which would include installing it inside conduit underground. Other than that it is fine to use in wet or dry locations above ground. __________________" One nice thing about the NEC articles ... you have lots of choices" Stubbie |

This will not be run underground. This will be run under my floor rafters of my house in my basement. It is a dry basement. I am considering doing this so as not to have to drill over 85 holes in my rafters to run the cable otherwise. I am feeding a sub panel from my main panel for addition i put on the rear of my house. |

The wonderful folks at a big box store about ten years ago sold me the 4 wire SER knowing that I would be using it underground good thing it was just used temporary till I got my 200 amp service installed in my garage. That stuff does not fair well at all when put underground. |

Easier to pull four single wires instead of that jacket wire through conduit. |
