Consider Getting Multi Trip Travel Insurance

People who travel a lot make it a point to go to a lot of places as much as they can. During their travels it is best if people take advantage of insurance so that they can be protected while they are in transit. For the frequent traveler, instead of purchasing insurance for each trip taken, it might be better to simply opt for multi trip travel insurance.

Multi trip travel insurance is will be able to cover many trips instead of just one which is more advantageous for travelers. An insurance policy that covers many trips is also called the annual travel insurance since all the travels you will embark on for a year will already be covers. In this policy you can apply it to many different trips you will be taking.

Getting the multi trip travel insurance will allow you to be covered on your trips for one year. With this you will not have to be concerned when an emergency happens or an accident may occur. You should look into this kind of policy if you are a person who travels more than three times a year.

What families can benefit from this policy when they travel is an added bonus that multi trip travel insurance will provide. Up to four children can get free coverage when families travel with this kind of policy. This insurance plan is inexpensive and can provide the needed coverage for the whole family.

Many may ask why travel insurance in a must. It is due to the fact that most of the time traveling is risky. Aside from securing the belongings travelers have, it can also give security while being far from home.

The importance of travel insurance is that it can help you with medical expenses in case you find yourself in an emergency. It is also beneficial when accidents happen that are not the traveler?s fault. It is also essential that you have travel insurance so that when you lose some belongings you will be covered.

Annual travel insurance will be very helpful to those who travel a lot. Many people get the chance to gain many benefits from multi trip travel insurance aside from the unlimited trips they get insured for. Occasionally, there are companies that provide additional ski insurance just for free aside from the already free insurance for four children.

Yearly travel insurance has both international and domestic travel insurance and a traveler can get both. For this reason, getting multi trip travel insurance is not expensive at all. This is also much saving when a person takes more than three trips on a year with all the coverage that the trip would require.

When it comes to multi trip travel insurance, this is ideal for frequent travelers especially for contract workers. They are the ones who always travel every few weeks for projects. Much money will be saved by them with this kind of insurance.

If you travel a lot, never buy individual insurances policies since they can cost a lot. As a cheaper substitute, have a look at multi trip travel insurance. Apart from the saving you get you can also have coverage for your whole family.

Useful Home Improvement Tips That Are Environmentally Friendly

This article has been viewed 8 times.

When people try to carry out improvements to their homes they attempt to use methods that are good for the environment. Aside from being gentler on the planet, this way of thinking can also help you reduce your energy bills and make you more inclined to recycle rather than buy everything new. In the following article you will read about some green tips that you can apply in your home to make it better.

Some of the largest items in your home are also the ones that use up the most power, and if you?re planning on making some changes you may want to think about replacing these if it?s appropriate. The biggest electricity guzzling appliances are your dryer, washing machine and fridge. Replacing your older appliances for newer ones is wise because the latest ones are energy efficient. When buying a new fridge you want to get one that doesn?t have lots of extra features because they will simply add to the amount of energy it uses. In regards to washing machines and tumble dryers, your best bet is to buy a combo unit because they don?t use up too much space and they don?t use as much energy. Your energy costs will go down and you will have more space as well. Although windows could be used for decoration and to give light in your house, they are also great for keeping the heat inside and for insulation. Actually, the kind of window you own can play a large part regarding the bills you have for heating your home. It is possible to make your home much more energy efficient by obtaining double or triple paned windows. You could lower your heat loss by up to half if you coat your windows with Low-E (low emissivity) coating. Although it is expensive in the beginning to replace your existing windows with ones that are more energy efficient, this will save you money over time. It will also make you more comfortable in the winter.

You can make green home improvements in every room of your house, including your bedroom. For instance, the mattress you sleep on can be made from materials like organic latex, a natural material. Likewise, chemically free bedding can be a choice. A harmful chemical to the environment is formaldehyde and numerous typical bed materials contain it. People who are sensitive may notice that they sleep better when their mattress and bedding are all natural. Environmentally friendly preferences can be the healthiest for your family and yourself. Certainly everything from the walls in your bedroom to the carpets can be made green.

You?ll soon realize that making green choices when improving your home isn?t as hard as it first seemed. You?ll actually be much better off and things will be easier because you?ll be more independent and you?ll save money. Sometimes, however, as with insulation or solar panels, you do have to pay an upfront cost to reap these advantages. Eco-friendly choices, however, will pay off for you in the long run.

Stanchart upgrades mobile platform to grow clients | Mobile Money ...

Okuttah Mark

Standard Chartered Bank Kenya has upgraded its electronic commerce platform, in a move to make its applications easy to use and to grow the number of mobile commerce clients.

The upgrade has been done by a software firm Cellulant, which has deployed a new mobile commerce platform dubbed Release 3.0 that offers merchant services, digital services, bulk payments and agency banking via applications on Google?s Android, iOS (Apple) and other channels? access such as USSD, SMS and Java applications.

Previously, the platform was accessed via USSD which its clients found cumbersome to use.

USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) is a Global System for Mobile(GSM) communication technology that is used to send text between a mobile phone and an application program in the network. Applications may include prepaid roaming or mobile chatting.

Unlike SMS, USSD transactions occur during the session only. With SMS, message scan be sent to a mobile phone and stored for several days if the phone is not activated or within range.

Standard Chartered Kenya?s Consumer Banking director, Kariuki Ngari, says that the investment has already seen them double the active base of M-banking users over the second quarter winning the Bank an award within its global network.

?The Bank?s aim is to more than triple mobile commerce usage as an alternative delivery channel for our range of services as part of our strategic commitment to meet our discerning customers? needs more conveniently,? said Mr Ngari.

He added that the bank is eager to see its customers adopt the new platform as it plans to roll out new services on its alternative channels.

Cellulant is a leading mobile banking provider that serves more than 32 banks in Africa and which over 10 billion were transacted across its platform last year.

The software firm has been powering mobile banking for Standard Chartered Bank for about three years across five countries in Africa (Ghana, Zambia, Botswana, Nigeria and Kenya) and is looking to rolling this across all Standard Chartered bank markets in Africa This will enable the bank?s customers across the continent to enjoy mobile banking, merchant payments, web payments, digital content and agency banking on their phones.

Standard Chartered Bank?s decision to upgrade to Cellulant?s new mobile commerce platform, is also based on the platform robustness which allows the bank to tailor make different products for various markets across Africa.

This new software iteration is a highly robust technical platform that integrates to different core banking systems, with security features on encryption, monitoring and channel management business tools.

The platform also aggregates banks? channels such as ATM and internet banking to enhance customer?s user experience and enable services such as cardless withdrawals, secure PIN management, SMS alerts on mobile for ATM, bill presentment and payment.

Cellulant?s Chief Business Officer, Mr Paul Ndichu, said the firm invests 15 per cent of its annual revenues from all its markets in Research and Development to drive product enhancement and new mobile commerce platforms that enables value chains.

Roll over Einstein: Law of physics challenged (AP)

GENEVA ? One of the very pillars of physics and Einstein's theory of relativity ? that nothing can go faster than the speed of light ? was rocked Thursday by new findings from one of the world's foremost laboratories.

European researchers said they clocked an oddball type of subatomic particle called a neutrino going faster than the 186,282 miles per second that has long been considered the cosmic speed limit.

The claim was met with skepticism, with one outside physicist calling it the equivalent of saying you have a flying carpet. In fact, the researchers themselves are not ready to proclaim a discovery and are asking other physicists to independently try to verify their findings.

"The feeling that most people have is this can't be right, this can't be real," said James Gillies, a spokesman for the European Organization for Nuclear Research, or CERN, which provided the particle accelerator that sent neutrinos on their breakneck 454-mile trip underground from Geneva to Italy.

Going faster than light is something that is just not supposed to happen according to Einstein's 1905 special theory of relativity ? the one made famous by the equation E equals mc2. But no one is rushing out to rewrite the science books just yet.

It is "a revolutionary discovery if confirmed," said Indiana University theoretical physicist Alan Kostelecky, who has worked on this concept for a quarter of a century.

Stephen Parke, who is head theoretician at the Fermilab near Chicago and was not part of the research, said: "It's a shock. It's going to cause us problems, no doubt about that ? if it's true."

Even if these results are confirmed, they won't change at all the way we live or the way the world works. After all, these particles have presumably been speed demons for billions of years. But the finding will fundamentally alter our understanding of how the universe operates, physicists said.

Einstein's special relativity theory, which says that energy equals mass times the speed of light squared, underlies "pretty much everything in modern physics," said John Ellis, a theoretical physicist at CERN who was not involved in the experiment. "It has worked perfectly up until now."

France's National Institute for Nuclear and Particle Physics Research collaborated with Italy's Gran Sasso National Laboratory on the experiment at CERN.

CERN reported that a neutrino beam fired from a particle accelerator near Geneva to a lab 454 miles (730 kilometers) away in Italy traveled 60 nanoseconds faster than the speed of light. Scientists calculated the margin of error at just 10 nanoseconds. (A nanosecond is one-billionth of a second.)

Given the enormous implications of the find, the researchers spent months checking and rechecking their results to make sure there were no flaws in the experiment.

A team at Fermilab had similar faster-than-light results in 2007, but a large margin of error undercut its scientific significance.

If anything is going to throw a cosmic twist into Einstein's theories, it's not surprising that it's the strange particles known as neutrinos. These are odd slivers of an atom that have confounded physicists for about 80 years.

The neutrino has almost no mass, comes in three different "flavors," may have its own antiparticle and has been seen shifting from one flavor to another while shooting out from our sun, said physicist Phillip Schewe, communications director at the Joint Quantum Institute in Maryland.

Columbia University physicist Brian Greene, author of the book "Fabric of the Cosmos," said neutrinos theoretically can travel at different speeds depending on how much energy they have. And some mysterious particles whose existence is still only theorized could be similarly speedy, he said.

Fermilab team spokeswoman Jenny Thomas, a physics professor at the University College of London, said there must be a "more mundane explanation" for the European findings. She said Fermilab's experience showed how hard it is to measure accurately the distance, time and angles required for such a claim.

Nevertheless, Fermilab, which shoots neutrinos from Chicago to Minnesota, has already begun working to try to verify or knock down the new findings.

And that's exactly what the team in Geneva wants.

Gillies told The Associated Press that the readings have so astounded researchers that "they are inviting the broader physics community to look at what they've done and really scrutinize it in great detail, and ideally for someone elsewhere in the world to repeat the measurements."

Only two labs elsewhere in the world can try to replicate the work: Fermilab and a Japanese installation that has been slowed by the tsunami and earthquake. And Fermilab's measuring systems aren't nearly as precise as the Europeans' and won't be upgraded for a while, said Fermilab scientist Rob Plunkett.

Drew Baden, chairman of the physics department at the University of Maryland, said it is far more likely that the CERN findings are the result of measurement errors or some kind of fluke. Tracking neutrinos is very difficult, he said.

"This is ridiculous what they're putting out," Baden said. "Until this is verified by another group, it's flying carpets. It's cool, but ..."

So if the neutrinos are pulling this fast one on Einstein, how can it happen?

Parke said there could be a cosmic shortcut through another dimension ? physics theory is full of unseen dimensions ? that allows the neutrinos to beat the speed of light.

Indiana's Kostelecky theorizes that there are situations when the background is different in the universe, not perfectly symmetrical as Einstein says. Those changes in background may alter both the speed of light and the speed of neutrinos.

But that doesn't mean Einstein's theory is ready for the trash heap, he said.

"I don't think you're going to ever kill Einstein's theory. You can't. It works," Kostelecky said. There are just times when an additional explanation is needed, he said.

If the European findings are correct, "this would change the idea of how the universe is put together," Columbia's Greene said. But he added: "I would bet just about everything I hold dear that this won't hold up to scrutiny."

Knox trial: prosecutors sum up their case

(AP) ? Italian prosecutors sought to persuade an appeals court to uphold the murder conviction of Amanda Knox, saying during closing arguments Friday that "all clues converge toward the only possible result" of finding the young American woman and her co-defendant guilty.

Speaking for two hours in a packed room, Prosecutor Giancarlo Costagliola urged the jury to keep in mind the family of the victim, British student Meredith Kercher, who was Knox's roommate at the time of the slaying. His fellow prosecutor, Giuliano Mignini, urged the jurors to ignore the media hype and what he said was a pro-defendant slant surrounding the case.

A verdict in the appeals trial of Knox and her co-defendant and one-time boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito is expected at the end of September or early next month.

Costagliola denounced what he said was "an obsessive media campaign that makes everyone feel like the parents of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito."

"As you make your decision, I wish that you jurors feel a little bit like the parents of Meredith Kercher, a serious, studious girl whose life was taken by these two kids from good families."

Mignini claimed that the prosecution was "subjected to systematic denigration of a political and mediatic nature" and urged the jury to forget the pressure of an international press he said was overwhelmingly in favor of the defendants.

"The trial must be held here, in this courtroom," Mignini said. "This lobbying, this mediatic and political circus, this heavy interference, forget all of it!"

Knox and Sollecito were convicted of sexually assaulting and murdering Kercher on the night of Nov. 1, 2007 in the house Knox and Kercher shared while exchange students in Perugia.

Knox was sentenced to 26 years in prison; Sollecito to 25. Both deny wrongdoing and have appealed the verdict, which was issued by a lower court in December 2009.

The prosecutors argue that the 21-year-old Kercher was the victim of a drug-fueled sex assault. In the original trial, the prosecutors had sought life sentences ? Italy's stiffest punishment. Like the defendant, they have also appealed the lower court's verdict, as they can in Italy.

Costagliola, at the start of closing arguments expected to last two days and involve two more prosecutors, summed up what he said were the clues that point to the defendants: bloody footprints found in the house that are compatible with those of the defendants, cell phone activity and witness testimony that appear to contradict the defendant's alibi that they spent the night at Sollecito's house and stayed there until about 10 a.m. the day after the murder, a staged burglary at the house of the murder aimed at sidetracking the investigation.

This all pointed to ascertaining the defendants' presence at the scene of the crime, he said, adding: "All clues converge toward the only possible result of finding the defendants guilty."

Costagliola also talked of an independent review of DNA evidence that cast doubt on much of the genetic evidence used to convict Knox will help his daughter overturn the conviction. He challenged the results of the independent review and defended the findings of the original investigation.

In the first trial, prosecutors maintained that Knox's DNA was found on the handle of a kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon, and that Kercher's DNA was found on the blade. They said Sollecito's DNA was on the clasp of Kercher's bra as part of a mix of evidence that also included the victim's genetic profile.

The independent review challenged both findings. It said police had made glaring errors in evidence collecting and that below-standard testing raised doubts over the attribution of DNA traces, both on the blade and on the bra clasp, which was collected from the crime scene several weeks after the murder.

The review boosted Knox's chances of being acquitted and freed after four years behind bars, and gave hope to her family.

Curt Knox, the defendant's father, said he was hopeful and grateful to the appellate court for having granted the review.

"We were not surprised with the results because this is what our defense experts were telling us all along," Curt Knox told The Associated Press in Perugia on the eve of the closing arguments. "I'm very thankful that the appeals court had the courage to authorize that independent review."

However, in court, Costagliola argued that the original finding could stand and said the review amounted to "a scientific falsification of the truth." Even when accepting some of the criticism in the review, he said, the jury should at least consider the traces of DNA evidence as strong clues incriminating the defendants, if not full-fledged evidence.

In an unusual move, Perugia Chief Prosecutor Giovanni Galati made an appearance at the beginning of Friday's session to express his support for the job done by prosecutors and investigators in the case, which had come under fire in the national and international media especially after the DNA review.

Next week, a lawyer representing the Kercher family and then the defense lawyers will make their closing arguments. Knox herself is expected to address the court in a final appeal to proclaim her innocence.

With young and photogenic defendants and tales of sex and drugs, the case has captivated audiences worldwide, drawing international media to Perugia since the beginning. On Friday, as the appeals trial draws to a close, the underground courtroom was packed with cameras, reporters and scores of curious residents.

A third person, Rudy Hermann Guede of the Ivory Coast, also has been convicted of Kercher's murder in a separate proceeding. Italy's highest criminal court has upheld Guede's conviction and his 16-year-prison sentence. Guede denies wrongdoing.
